Swelling in Ankle
Hi Experts My wife has pain and swelling in left ankle area which has now spread to entire feet. It has been a week but there is no improvement in her condition even after doing hot salt water treatment. Please suggest what to do?

Hi there I understand your concern and feeling.... There are many causes for ankle swelling including trauma,arthritis,deep vain thrombosis...may be due to liver disease, exess weight, kidney diseases, loss of proteins from body,congestive cardiac failure etc...so detailed clinical examination is necessary with detailed history...Consult nearest physician they will do the needful.

Keep leg in elevation while sleeping or resting. Also give Tab Aquazide 12.5 mg one daily for 3-4 days . Get her investigated, to tell me any other problems that she has

Hello There. i can understand your concern.. since its not improving by the home remedies its high time you consult a doctor in person. the cause of the swelling needs to be evaluated. give get a pain killer like tab. aceclofenac 100 mg now and take her to a orthopedic surgeon in person for further evaluation and management. there are too many causes for this problem and its difficult to pin point one without examining. best regards, Dr. Anil kumar jain.
