Surgery for removing braces
I have approx. 2.5 cm gap in between my front two teeth. I consulted an orthodontist recently who told me the whole process of braces and alignment but he said that at the time of removing the braces when the process is complete and my teeth are aligned he will perform a surgery in which he'll remove my front two teeth and attach them again. I searched it online and there's no information regarding this last step surgery. So can someone pls tell me if it's necessary or my doctor is just making things up. (He said he'll perform the surgery so that the process doesn't lapse as he claimed it is quite common in some cases and depends on the doctor who is treating them)

Well an orthodontist sometimes performs orthognathic surgery if it's necessary. You may take a second opinion at other orthodontist

Hi! No such surgery of removing and reattaching front teeth is done after braces. Space closure is managed with orthodontic treatment and retainers. Please consult another orthodontist for a second opinion. Please share your opg for better opinion!
