Trauma can feel heavy but sometimes it doesn’t, and still it leaves a lasting impact on who we become, and what we search for. This is also often connected to unresolved things.

Childhood trauma and abuse, especially if it is of physical or sexual nature may torment a person's personality/ sexuality beyond repair as it shapes the mind in a very negative way that too in formative years of development. With psychotherapy/ counseling it is possible to manage the present issues, but it's effect on a person's psyche is very hard to change and may take years long therapy to completely relieve the pain, suffering, and imapact on one's personality as an adult. Be mindful that these issues take time to address, although the presenting symptoms may get addressed within 6-8 months of weekly sessions. One must focus on complete recovery without gaps so that it gets addressed at the core and not just at the periphery. Try and find a therapist with whom you can commit for long term and address these issues from the root.
