Sugar level during pregnancy
My wife is seven weeks pregnant and we have done the sugar level check today. The fasting sugar is 105 & PP 119. Also, HBA1C is 6.1. Is it sign of worry or should we take medicine to reduce the sugar level?

The right value for fasting sugar in pregnancy is less than 92 mg/dl. It is advised that you start medical nutrition therapy to keep sugars under check, take a walk after each meal and also walk for 30 mins each in the morning and evening. Please monitor fasting and post lunch for two weeks and if this hasn’t helped then you will need medication.

Fasting sugar levels are high You should first follow an exercise schedule and a diabetic diet chart and monitor sugar levels Try to maintain fasting less than 95 and post lunch less than 140 If despite  diet and exercise the values are not achieved you will have to start with the medication

Fasting is raised. Hba1c is also raised. You should connect with endocrinologist or your Gynaecologist for the same
