Sudden shocks while sleeping

My friend in deep sleep get sudden shocks which he doesn't realises ofcourse but is that common? Few occassions I have noticed those shocks coming when he is sitting and working too!? Is it a sign of worry. He says he doesn't feel anything. Only someone along with him can realise he just twitched.
