Hello, I understand how difficult and challenging it is for you to go through this state. Here are few points you can reflect upon: Too many things on platter: We often loose focus and concentrate when we have too many things going on in life. We cant focus on one thing, because we have 1000 more things our mind is thinking about. What can you do: 1. Make a list of everything thats happening / things that you are not able to go at the present. 2. Segregate it as what needs to be focused on right now and what can be done a bit later in time. 3. Take one small goal for the day and start doing it. If you do this or have done this and still feel that you cant work and focus, individual therapy sessions can help you understand why is this happening. Together we can understand the root cause and help you overcome this situation. You can connect with me to book your slot. Love and Joy, Kinjal M Jain Mending Mind

Hi "Practice the Pomodoro technique Staying focused helps you get more done in less time. While that sounds simple enough, it’s not always easy to put into practice. So, the next time you’re wrestling with your attention span, try the Pomodoro technique. This timing method helps you train your brain to stay on task for short periods of time. Here’s how it works: Set your timer for 25 minutes and get to work. When you the buzzer sounds, take a 5-minute break. Then, set the timer again and get back to work. Once you’ve done four rounds of this, you can take a longer break, approximately 20 to 30 minutes. Set a SMART goal If your lack of focus is a result of feeling overwhelmed by a complex project, try breaking it down into smaller parts and plugging the smaller steps into the SMART formula. SMART stands for: Specific. What exactly needs to be done? Measurable. How will you track your progress? Achievable. Is it realistic? Can it be done by the deadline? Relevant. How does it fit with the overall plan or bigger goal? Timely. When does it need to be done? When you take a large, complex project and break it down into smaller, bite-size tasks, you can boost your ability to concentrate and focus on specific tasks. That’s because you end up with goals that you actually feel like you can accomplish. Focus on similar tasks Tired of jumping from one type of thinking to another (aka “multitasking”)? Then pick tasks that are similar, group them together, and do one at a time. This makes transitions smoother, and you may find that you get a lot more done by not jumping from one type of task to another. Despite what you may think, multitasking is not more effective or efficient, especially when you’re struggling with staying focused. In fact, the American Psychological Association reports that multitasking may reduce productivity by as much as 40 percent" (reference)

Hi, thank you for your sharing your true feelings and being courageous to seek professional help. It is a good time to seek mental health counseling and psychotherapy from a psychologist if you are unable to concentrate on work. Stress and anxiety can be bothersome, but can definitely be managed with proper care and treatment. You may want to understand: 1. WHY- are there any major changes in your life/ routine recently 2. WHEN- when are the times when concentration is hard 3. HOW- how are you feeling stressed and anxious (example- any symptoms in your body etc) 4. WHAT- what can you do when this happens (example- seek professional help or talk to a trusted adult family member/ friend or go for a walk or practice deep breathing exercise or write down your thoughts and fears etc) All the best and take good care

Hi Most people experience stress and anxiety from time to time. Stress is any demand placed on your brain or physical body. People can report feeling stressed when multiple competing demands are placed on them. The feeling of being stressed can be triggered by an event that makes you feel frustrated or nervous. Anxiety is a feeling of fear, worry, or unease. It can be a reaction to stress, or it can occur in people who are unable to identify significant stressors in their life. Stress and anxiety are not always bad. In the short term, they can help you overcome a challenge or dangerous situation. Examples of everyday stress and anxiety include worrying about finding a job, feeling nervous before a big test, or being embarrassed in certain social situations. If we did not experience some anxiety we might not be motivated to do things that we need to do (for instance, studying for that big test!). However, if stress and anxiety begin interfering with your daily life, it may indicate a more serious issue. If you are avoiding situations due to irrational fears, constantly worrying, or experiencing severe anxiety about a traumatic event weeks after it happened, it may be time to seek help.

It’s normal to experience stress and anxiety from time to time, and there are strategies you can use to make them more manageable. Pay attention to how your body and mind respond to stressful and anxiety-producing situations. Next time a stressful experience occurs, you’ll be able to anticipate your reaction and it may be less disruptive. Managing everyday stress and anxiety Certain lifestyle changes can help alleviate symptoms of stress and anxiety. These techniques can be used along with medical treatments for anxiety. Techniques to reduce stress and anxiety include: eating a balanced, healthy diet limiting caffeine and alcohol consumption getting enough sleep getting regular exercise meditating scheduling time for hobbies keeping a diary of your feelings practicing deep breathing recognizing the factors that trigger your stresstalking to a friend Be mindful if you tend to use substances like alcohol or drugs as ways to cope with stress and anxiety. This can lead to serious substance abuse issues that can make stress and anxiety worse. Seeking professional help for stress and anxiety There are many ways to seek treatment for stress and anxiety. If you feel like you’re unable to cope with stress and anxiety, your primary care provider may suggest that you see a mental health provider. They may use psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy, to help you work through your stress and anxiety. Your therapist may also teach you applied relaxation techniques to help you manage stress. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a popular and effective method used to manage anxiety. This type of therapy teaches you to recognize anxious thoughts and behaviors and change them into more positive ones.
