Slippery Elm ok or not forbreastfeeding
Hi, I have a 10 month old and I have been suffering from acid reflux for some time now. My dietician suggested me to take slippery elm. Since I am a breastfeeding mother I am little eager to know will it be safe for my baby.

Greetings Slippery elm is generally not recommended during breastfeeding due to a severe lack of established safety clinical data regarding its transmission into human breast milk and its subsequent effect on a nursing infant For managing acid reflux while breastfeeding, you can consider these three general treatment alternatives: Dietary and Lifestyle Modifications: Avoid known trigger foods like citrus, heavy fats, caffeine, and chocolate, and try eating smaller, more frequent meals. Post-Meal Positioning: Stay completely upright for at least 30 minutes after eating to keep stomach acid settled down naturally.

Slippery elm hasn't been well studied in breastfeeding mothers, so there isn't reliable safety data on how it passes into your milk. It's safer to hold off until you know more.
Next Steps
Ask your dietician for a reflux remedy with established safety data for breastfeeding, or check with your doctor before starting slippery elm.
Health Tips
Avoid adding new herbal supplements to your diet while breastfeeding without your doctor's go-ahead.
