Hello Doctor
My son developed itchy, patchy skin scaling on his foot shortly after his school reopened, as he started wearing a new pair of school socks. The peeling and dry, scaly patches have persisted since then. We initially applied coconut oil, but when it didn't improve, we started using Nivea moisturizer cream. I've attached photos for your review. Could you please advise if this looks like an allergy, fungal infection, or something else, and suggest the appropriate treatment?

Hello,
Thank you for your query.
• Based on the information provided, it is difficult to suggest the most appropriate treatment without a proper assessment, as several skin conditions can appear similar.
• Kindly share clear photographs of the affected area in good lighting along with details such as duration of the problem, symptoms, and any treatments used previously.
• I would advise against starting any OTC creams or self-medication, as some products may worsen the condition or delay proper treatment.
• An accurate diagnosis is the first step towards effective and long-lasting results.
You may book a consultation for a detailed evaluation and a personalized treatment plan. I would be happy to guide you further.
Hi,
The scaling and itching you noticed after wearing socks suggest allergic dermatitis rather than simple dryness, so a moisturizer alone will not resolve it.
Medical treatment is required, and an in-person consultation is important to properly examine the skin and prescribe the correct medication.
Please do not worry. Effective treatment options are available; however, management depends on the severity and extent of the condition. A detailed medical history is essential for appropriate evaluation and treatment planning.
Kindly schedule an online consultation with a dermatologist for a comprehensive assessment, prescription, and further guidance.”
Detailed medical history needs to be assessed before starting you on your personalised treatment plan
Kindly share a clear picture in good lighting of affected areas
