Shoulder joint pain
Hello doctor, I have been into weight lifting and kickboxing for the last 10 years. My practice sessions are very  aggressive , but I do it in a proper way. 2 years before ,I started having a sharp pain in the left shoulder joint while lifting weights . I thought it was a minor issue. But later on, pain became high whenever I lifted weights. Other than that I usually don have any pains while walking or running. Visited a physiotherapist who gave IFT and sonar therapy. The pain has reduced a bit, but not completely cured. So. I took a MRI scan, the result was " A SMALL FOCAL TEAR IS NOTED IN THE ANTERIOR ASPECT OF SUPRASPINATUS TENDON & PARTIAL TEARS OF ACROMIO- CLAVICULAR JOINT. This is what has been mentioned in the result. I would like to know, if this is something very serious.? Do I have to go through a surgery? Or will it cured by giving rest for few months ? Expecting ur valuable suggestions.

First of all this is not serious, but timely intervention in the form of Rehabilitation is essential. There is a possibility of the condition worsening,if adequate measures are not taken to prevent the further progression. Please do consult a Shoulder Specialist like Orthopedician,Physiatrist or Sport Medicine specialist. Please do share your MRI for further assessment. Your treatment needs Algorithm like 1.Rest. 2.Modalities in the form of LASER therapy. 3.Strengthening of the entire rotator cuff. 4.Gradual increase in the weight lifting. 5.If the above measures are followed and if still not responding,we can consider ultrasound guided procedure like Proliferative therapy which has good results.

Hello, this is not serious for now but it can leads Into... I recommend you start lifting weights with gradually increased weight amd intensity, also work in your rotator cuff muscles strengthening after pain subsides because these muscles plays an very important role in lifting. For now ultrasound and laser is the best option with reduced lifting for now.
