Should we was meat before cooking?

I use to wash my meat before cooking but today when I searched on internet it says one must not wash meat because it can cross contaminate. So how safe is it to cook without washing in India where meat is sold by street side vendors? Should we wash it or not?

Hi Put the mutton in the water for 1hour and drain it well after that you can cook .. this safe way to cook mutton .

You can add a 1/2 tspoon of turmeric powder depending on the quantity of meat and soak it in water for 5 to 10minutes and rinse thoroughly atleast thrice
