Your description of symptoms is not complete. Since it awakens you from sleep, it can be neurological, means nerve origin. Better will be to visit the Orthopedic clinic for a diagnosis

Very non specific symptoms but must be very disabling if it awakens you from your sleep. Try taking levocarnitine and see. Have you consulted any ortho.
