Hi, Yes, increased anxiety and panic feelings can temporarily worsen during the first days to weeks after starting sertraline- this is a well-known side effect as the medication begins to take effect. These symptoms usually improve or resolve within 2 to 4 weeks as the body adjusts to the medication. Clonazepam and Tranxiety (etizolam) are prescribed to help manage these initial symptoms, but some individuals may still experience heightened anxiety at the start.
Next Steps
1. Continue taking your medication as prescribed unless instructed otherwise by your doctor. 2. If the anxiety or panic is severe, persistent beyond two weeks, or accompanied by thoughts of self-harm or other distressing symptoms, contact your physician promptly for a review. 3. Consider basic self-care (hydration, routine, gentle exercise, relaxation techniques) to help manage anxiety. 4. Keep scheduled follow-up appointments so your doctor can monitor your progress and adjust treatment if needed For more queries, Reach out for an online or in-person consultation: 📞 NEURONAL FIX CLINIC, RAMPRASTHA COLONY, Ghaziabad, (near Shreshtha Vihar, Delhi)- +91- 74XX52XX97XX67XX61
Health Tips
- This side effect is usually temporary and often subsides once sertraline’s therapeutic effects build up. - Do not stop, increase, or decrease doses of any of the medications without consulting your doctor to avoid withdrawal or exacerbation of symptoms. - If there are new or worsening symptoms (such as agitation, unusual behavior, or suicidal thoughts), seek urgent medical advice.

More than side effects of medications, it is anxiety not coming under control and the medications need to be changed. Consult an discuss with your psychiatrist, if not possible, get a second opinion in person or online. Good luck.

Hi, Yes, it can happen. Early days on sertraline often heighten anxiety before easing. Usually settles in 1–2 weeks. Stay consistent, don’t stop suddenly, and share with your doctor if symptoms feel unmanageable. You’re not alone in this, it is part of the adjustment, not a setback..
Next Steps
Track symptoms daily, practice calm breathing, lean on support, stay consistent with meds, update your doctor.
Health Tips
Slow breaths, gentle walks, steady routine, limit caffeine, grounding exercises, kind self-talk.
