First go for professional cleaning, during this procedure they would find the cause, if not confirm everything is fine by an IOPA xray. If there's caries, then you may need indirect pulp capping and RCT is not required .

Senstivity in your tooth may be because of attrition or abrasion in the tooth.. All the sensitive tooth does not require RCT treatment.. RCT treatment is only required if root caries or tooth is effected till pulp.. RCT treatment is done when deep caries is there..

Sensitivity does not always mean that it require RCT. It can be because of attrition or because of root exposure due to calculus.
Next Steps
Go for a consultation so that after a clinical approach he/she can advise you for a medicinal toothpaste or scaling.

You need RCT if there is decay or trauma affecting the pulp of the tooth. We need x ray to see pulp and depth of decay or trauma.
Next Steps
Visit dentist for clinical examination and x ray.
