Scaling is cleaning of the tooth .It removes the hard and soft deposits ,stains from the teeth. It is a prophylactic procedure.
Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure. It involves use of a bleaching agent to improve the whiteness of the teeth.It is quite harmful as the tooth is subjected to chemical treatment.
Scaling shall be done once in every 6-8 months to prevent gum disease.

Scaling is one which is the cleaning of teeth which removes extrinsic stains and deposits.Teeth whitening is otherwise called as Teeth bleaching which is a cosmetic procedure it will improves your teeth colour by 2 to 3 shades brighter.....scaling is advised once in 6 months and it is a mandatory procedure ..The cost of scaling and polishing starts from Rs.800. .. and the cost of teeth whitening ranges around 5000rs.

Scaling is cleaning of teeth with the help of untrasonic vibrations which romoves your external stains and it may cost around 500 to 2k on other hand bleeching of teeth in which whitening of teeth can be done with the help of chemicals.it may cost around 5k to 10 k

There is a big difference between scaling and whitening(bleaching).scaling is just the cleaning done to remove the deposits and external stains. While bleaching is the whitening of teeth done by chemicals.scaling will cost you 1k to 3k depending on deposits while bleaching cost you 6k to 18k

Scaling is a basic tooth cleaning procedure where dentist removes the deposits on tooth, using hand or ultrasonic instruments.
Bleaching is a procedure that change ur tooth colour to brighter shade using medically used chemicals.
Bleaching will enhance your tooth appearance.

A very good question, here's all that you need to know:
1. Scaling is basically removal of external deposits of tartar or stains on teeth. whitening is basically just that - whitening.
2. Scaling preserves natural tooth shade, it only cleans teeth, in this process due to teeth getting clean, some amount of brightening may occur. Whitening is purely bleaching teeth to enhance natural tooth color and lighten it.
3. Purpose of scaling is preservation of teeth and gums and keeping them healthy, purpose of whitening is cosmetic enhancement.
4. Scaling should be done every year atleast,in all cases, whereas repetetive whitening is not recommended routinely in all cases.
5. Scaling is done by using an ultrasonic instument on all teeth and gums in the mouth, Whitening is done by use of certain chemical agents which bleach tooth on coming in contact with it.
6. Scaling is not harmful, Whitening may cause a slight wear of tooth enamel.
Bottom line : Unless you have completely stained teeth, whitening should be avoided , whereas scaling should be done every year.
