Right knee swollen
I had an knee effusion my treating doctor advised for an aspiration and to apply plaster for 21 days to prevent recurrence. Aspiration and plaster was done on 12/01/2024 the plaster was removed on 31/01/2024. Post plaster removal doctor advised to use a hinged knee cap and asked to do physiotherapy. My physio advised to use both crepe bandage and knee cap to reduce swelling . The swelling has reduced but very slow. Attaching the photos of recent condition of my knee. Currently i am applying ice for 3/4 times a day and doing knee bending strengthening exercises. Is this fine to get back to normal or do i need to do something extra for fast recovery. How much time it would take to get back to normal? Do i need to use crepe bandage now or a knee cap is sufficient?

It's post surgical effusion. Generally it takes time to get completely cured depending to the level of injury and your body's heling capacity. Heres what you can do: Elevate you legs above heart level and move your ankles up and down, as much as you can while using crepe bandage. Keep icing 2-3x a day There are certain exercises that will help you to get rid of effusion, but you need proper assessment before that
Next Steps
You can consult me to give you further details on what can be done next based on your current progress and reports.

Hey there! No need of crepe bandage. Yes you will have to better condition your knee but after the leftover swelling subsides. Use knee cap. Do not do weight shifts by standing on either leg. Reduce the time of ice pack and instead do ice stroking with help of ice cubes. And yes, please visit the doctor who did the aspiration again to check whether the inflammatory substances need more drainage. Talk on the antibiotics also and the condition of your articular cartilage of knee.

Hope you are doing good, Continue with knee-strengthening exercises as well as increase knee-bending range.  If you are comfortable to use a crepe bandage,  fine.  Otherwise, it's not a must to do.  As your physio said u can use both.  Knee cap supports the joint.  Crepe bandage helps with circulation.
Next Steps
active exercises of the quadriceps helps to recover fast.  Elevation of the knee joint helps to reduce swelling.
Health Tips
Prolonged hanging of the leg and cross-sitting should be avoided.

Yes it's right for knee strengthening and try to keep your legs upwards/elevated to prevent more swelling and do icing regularly.
