At this age, diet alone is usually not enough to correct anemia.
Pediatrician will likely prescribe an iron supplement, which is essential to raise her hemoglobin.
Meanwhile, focus on including iron-rich foods in her daily diet:
• Mashed or finely chopped chicken, fish, or egg yolk (if non-vegetarian).
• Moong dal or Masoor Dal Soup or Khichdi.
• Rajma - make cuttlet or make paratha or mashed rajma sabji.
• Ragi or bajra porridge with added jaggery and dates in it.
• Green leafy vegetables (spinach, methi) mixed into dal, khichdi, or paratha.
• Dates, raisins (as a puree or paste), and black sesame seeds in small amounts
• Vitamin C-rich foods like orange, sweet lime, guava, kiwi, strawberries, tomato, or amla alongside meals to improve iron absorption.
• To boost Haemoglobin levels - include Apples, Pomegranate, Banana etc.
● Also:
• Avoid giving milk with meals, as it reduces iron absorption. Maintain at least a 1–2 hour gap between milk and iron-rich meals or iron supplements.
• Limit cow's milk to around 400–500 ml per day, as excessive milk intake can worsen iron deficiency.
