Reoccurring acne despite treatment
28F with oily skin and recurrent acne for months, mainly jawline/chin, cheeks and some forehead. Used clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide spot treatment which heal pimples but new ones keep returning. Started adapalene nightly in late Feb (now ~13 weeks). Around weeks 4–8 I experienced a major purge with many small whitehead-like bumps and pimples across my forehead, cheeks, jawline and chin. Most of that has now settled and marks/spots seem to be improving, but still getting recurring whiteheads/pimples mainly jawline/sideburn area and forehead. The pattern sometimes seems worse around my period, though I’m not fully sure. I recently switched to a benzoyl peroxide face wash and still use benzoyl peroxide as spot treatment when needed. I briefly tried azelaic acid, but it caused some itching/peeling around my jaw area so I paused it. Does this sound hormonal/persistent acne and should I continue topicals or consider oral treatment/change in regimen?
