I got a cavity filled in my molar teeth 2 years back ( it was very deep cavity reaching almost to the surface of the teeth). Now, the filling is getting removed and I need to visit a dentist before the entire filling is removed and the surface is exposed.
My question is, will the dentist remove the remaining filling and do the new filling or the new filling would be done over the remaining filling?

Depends on the condition of your tooth and the type of filling done
An X-ray is required before confirming
If it’s a silver filling it will have to be completely removed
If there is caries under the present filling then entire filling needs to be removed
Hello sir ....new filling will only be done after removal of old filling and dentist will have to see if I it can be treated with filling or has to go for root canal treatment.Regards.
