Since your last tetanus shot was 2 years ago and you have had a pinpoint injury from a steel brush (a metallic, potentially rusty object), you should take a tetanus booster. The standard recommendation is a TT booster for any wound if the last dose was more than 5 years ago, but for wounds from metal objects â especially potentially dirty or rusty ones â a booster is advised if the last dose was more than 2 years ago. Getting it within 72 hours of the injury is ideal, though it can still be taken now.
Next Steps
Get a tetanus toxoid (TT) injection at your nearest clinic or health center as soon as possible. Clean the wound thoroughly with soap and water and apply antiseptic. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.

TT shots immunity against tetanus disease lasts only for 6months. Beyond that, you will need to repeat a dose of TT. If it was a steel brush with little rust then you must take a TT injection.
