Regarding baby height
Hello. My baby is 16weeks old. Born weight is 2kg and height is 44. Now, her height is 58 as on 16 weeks. Percentile showing as 8. Is it normal? I am quite worried. And, I also want to know when can be detected baby is born dwarf. I have these things running in my mind. Till now my pediatrician doesn't rise about height. But I want to know when exactly dwarfism can be identified if not during pregnancy. Should I worry for dwarfism even after 16th week of baby?

Dear parents, In first 3month height increase is 10cm, there after from 4thto 9months height increases 10cm&in last 3months 5cm. Check this with your kid. Normal baby has 50cm length at birth.

Thank you for your question and I admire you for providing a detailed history. First of all I wanted to know whether you’d kid was preterm or not as height is corroborating the weight and that is corroborating prematurity. And after that baby’s growth is going very appropriately at 16 week 58 cm with 44 cm at birth is absolutely very normal and good growth, this is not dwarfism

First of all measurement of length at this age is not accurate as baby will be lying on bed. There will be few cm variation. You just follow up length every month or two to keep a track... if baby's development is going fine you can weight till 1 year. Get Thyroid profile done if not done earlier.

Hi, Babies weight and height will be checked during every baby’s visit, this will go on till puberty. Constantly if baby is not gaining height then only we investigate. At 16 weeks, you should be concentrating at feeding. Feed the baby on demand and do not worry about the height now.
