Reducing carbs and increasing protein
I would like to increase the protein intake by reducing carbohydrates. I plan to do this by reducing rice based food and fill that gap with pharmaceutical grade whey protein supplement or soy isolate based supplement . I have a sedentary lifestyle, and my diet is majorly rice based food. Thoughts?.

It is important to first figure out why do you want to reduce carbohydrates from your diet and increase protein. Cutting down on carbs and mindlessly increasing the protein intake without any specific reason can impose harmful effects on your health. Below are some points which will help you improve your nutrient intake: - Replace the refined carbohydrates such as refined flours and refined sugar with whole grains, millets, oats, or quinoa. - It's a myth that white rice is bad for your health instead you can have it in many other forms to make it health like adding more vegetables or having curd rice or a fermented rice kanji which is great for your gut health. - Try including protein naturally in your diet by consuming pulses, dairy, eggs, fish and lean chicken instead of relying on protein supplements. Lastly I would like to mention that every meal of the day should be balanced and don't just give importance to 1 nutrient in your diet, as every nutrient has its different role in your body.

A complete low carb diet i would not suggest. Moderate carb intake with adequate intake of protein is advised unless you are planning to get into competitive sports. A very low carb can do more harm than good. It's not the rice it is the quantity of it and having protein along with it, which is required. Taking natural protein would be better than supplements unless you are vegan or vegetarian and not meeting  your protein requirement.
