**Specialist in Infectious Diseases & Preventive Medicine Opinion:**  **To the Patient:**  Rabies is primarily transmitted through the saliva of infected mammals (e.g., dogs, bats). **Birds like parrots do not carry rabies**, so vaccination is unnecessary in your case.  **Action Steps:**  1. Wound Care:Clean the scratch thoroughly with soap and water, then apply an antiseptic (e.g., betadine) to prevent bacterial infection.  2. Monitor: Watch for signs of infection (redness, swelling, pus). If these occur, consult a doctor for antibiotics.  3. No Rabies Risk:Avoid unnecessary vaccines, as your parrot cannot transmit rabies.  When to Worry: If bitten/scratched by a mammal (especially stray dogs/cats), seek immediate vaccination.  **For Personalized Advice:**  Connect with me to discuss any concerns or unusual symptoms.  **My WhatsApp:** Eight Zero Zero Nine Eight Two One Three Three Two (for direct consultation).

After parrot scratch, there is more risk of pssitacosis infection, than rabies. If you have initiated vaccine, complete the course. Do you have any swelling or redness over scratch site? If so take antibiotic.
Next Steps
Clean the scratch mark with an antiseptic lotion. Take doxycycline 100mg morning for 5 days to prevent psitacosis, if there is a wound.
