H/o of 2.5 back year dog bit didnt know status of dog pt is asymptomatic bite was on calf m/s know what can bi done to prevent rabies if it was a rabid dog and virues has long incubation period

Hi, Depending on the severity of bite Patient might not require any intervention or vaccine / Immunoglobulin administration Dog needs to be observed for 10 days Rabies is a rare disease these days due to vaccination programs but is very fatal ( causes death ) So it needs proper evaluation and vaccination / Immunoglobulins use depending on the case Incubation period is around 2-8 weeks But in rare cases it can develop after month/ years after animal bite
