My gf has lump on her breast from past 2 years... We have consulted a surgeon and did FNAC nd report says it's benign fibroadenoma...
Is surgery required in this case or medications required

It will NEVER become malignant in the future. So nothing to worry in that sense..if the lump is more than 4 cm than u can think of surgery ... Otherwise avoid surgery..u will have to go under the knife and thatalso has its own side effects
if the swelling is painfull just have some painkillers for couple of days
The further treatment of fibroadenoma depends upon the size of the swelling and symptoms of the patient
if the swelling is small like less than less than 3 cm without any symptoms like pain or any discomfort surgery can be avoided
if swelling is more than 5 cm better to get operated
if the spelling is less than 4 cm every 3 to 4 months ultrasound is required to know the increase in the size of the swelling
