Trihexiphenidyl(THP) is given to prevent side effects (EPSE) due to antipsychotics (including risperidone). If you do not experience these side effects such as muscle tighness, slurring of speech, drooling of saliva, slowness of movement etc , you dont need tp take THP

Hi.
Trihexyphenidyl takes care of the side effects caused by Risperidone. Risperidone can be given by itself at lower doses but in some cases, it may not be enough and the dose has to be increased to take care of the symptoms of illness. In such cases, Trihexyphenidyl may be required. You can visit and talk to your psychiatrist about it it you have more doubts.
