Dear mam, Psychosis is a disorder of thinking characterised by delusions (firm and fixed false thoughts), hallucinations (perceptions of sound/vision/sensation without a stimulus) and disorganised behavior (poor hygiene habits, odd dressing etc.) Schizophrenia is a type of psychosis, one of the severest variety and has its own criteria for diagnosis. Pls feel free to ask the next question and I shall be glad to answer them.

Schizophrenia itself is a type of psychosis.

We call it as schizophrenia, when psychotic & behavioural symptoms last for at least a month (as per ICD diagnostic criteria).
