Escitalopram and Risperidone
Is it safe to take Escitalopram and risperidone for long term? I have read that these drugs can cause priapism which can eventually lead to permanent impotence. Currently I am on a daily dose of 10mg and 2 mg respectively.

Dear Sir Escitalopram and risperidone are highly safe medication. They can cause sexual side effects like decreased sexual drive and problems in erection. However, these are not very common side effect and not every one who take these medicines experience these side effects. Some people are on them for many years without having any side effects. I will strongly recommend that you do not stop the medication without consulting your psychiatrist.please discuss your queries with your psychiatrist. In case you are experiencing any sexual problems, it will need evaluation as it can be due to a lot of other factors.
Next Steps
Do not stop medicines without consultation. Not everyone gets side effects. Stopping medicine can make your psychological problems worsen. Discuss with your psychiatrist if you are experiencing any side effects.
