I was on escitalopram for 4 years , I weaned off the course and took 2 years to exit . While doing so I developed food & medicine allergies, like itching mouth, eye lids , nostrils, burning in abdomen, and brain fog. Consulted many doctors, didn't find any remedy. Now I can't even take the same old escitalopram or any psychiatric medicines or supplements, all showing up with the same symptoms, everything is connected to histamine.
It is suspected SSRI withdrawal induced MCAS or Histamine Intolerance, still managing with antihistamine, is there any precise treatment instead just symptomatic

There is no strong evidence that escitalopram withdrawal causes MCAS or histamine intolerance. SSRI withdrawal can cause brain fog, anxiety, and increased sensitivity. Your symptoms need proper evaluation by an allergist/immunologist.
Next Steps
Continue treatment only under medical supervision, and avoid self-restarting or stopping psychiatric medications abruptly.

Hi, will need further details regarding the same to advise appropriately. There is more chance of coincidence than SSRI being the causative factor. Consult online for treatment
I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. Based on current evidence, there is no clear proof that SSRI withdrawal directly causes MCAS or histamine intolerance. Since you're experiencing reactions to multiple foods and medications, it's important to have a thorough evaluation by an allergist/immunologist with expertise in mast cell disorders to establish the correct diagnosis. Management depends on the underlying cause and may involve treatments beyond antihistamines in selected cases. Until then, avoid restarting or changing medications on your own, and continue to work closely with your healthcare team. The reason for why Escitalopram was started needs history to clarify and may be alternative plans can work - please consult your psychiatrist as well.
There is currently no strong evidence that SSRI withdrawal directly causes MCAS or histamine intolerance. Since your symptoms have persisted and involve multiple foods and medications, a detailed evaluation by an allergist/immunologist is advisable. Treatment depends on confirming the underlying diagnosis rather than assuming SSRI withdrawal alone is the cause.
