Hi, i am suffering from allergic rhinitis, frequent cold, sneezing, post nasal drops from childhood, will this cause Psoriasis and severe hair fall ( nearing to crown baldness) ? Or vice versa?
Currently using Protar K Scalp solution alternate days as shampoo, Dosetil lotion at night from last 2 weeks but still small pimple and itching scalp continue to exist. Can I get my lost hair back? Pls suggest if am taking the right treatment and what is the possibility of hair regrowth and duration to cure this problem??? Pls reply in detail. Thanks

Your presentation suggests a multifactorial scalp pathology, predominantly scalp psoriasis with superimposed seborrheic features (sebopsoriasis), given the presence of persistent itching, follicular papules, and prior history of chronic inflammatory conditions like allergic rhinitis. While allergic rhinitis and psoriasis are both immunologically mediated disorders, there is no direct causal relationship between them. However, both involve immune dysregulationâType I hypersensitivity in rhinitis and Th1/Th17-mediated inflammation in psoriasisâhighlighting a shared atopic and inflammatory predisposition.
Regarding hair fall, chronic inflammation of the scalp in psoriasis can lead to telogen effluvium or even psoriatic alopecia, especially when there is extensive scaling and scratching. If crown thinning is significant and has progressed over time, androgenetic alopecia may also be coexistent, which is common in men and can be accelerated by inflammatory scalp conditions.
Next Steps
Continue Protar-K (coal tar and salicylic acid) as a keratolytic and anti-proliferative agent, but consider switching or alternating with a ketoconazole 2% + ciclopirox olamine shampoo to address any Malassezia overgrowth. Apply clobetasol propionate 0.05% lotion instead of Dosetil (which is desonide and relatively milder), particularly if lesions are resistant. Limit potent corticosteroid usage to 2â3 weeks to avoid atrophy or tachyphylaxis. For hair regrowth, initiate minoxidil 5% topical solution or foam, applied twice daily on the affected area. If signs of androgenetic alopecia are confirmed, an oral 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor (e.g., finasteride) may be considered after medical consultation and risk assessment. Nutritional support with biotin, Vitamin D, zinc, and iron supplementation may help if any deficiencies are identified.
Health Tips
Avoid mechanical trauma to the scalp (scratching or harsh brushing), as it can aggravate psoriatic lesions via the Koebner phenomenon. Stick to lukewarm water for scalp washing, and avoid hair oils during active flare-ups. Hair regrowth can be slowâvisible improvement may take 3â6 months, and full therapeutic effect may require longer consistent treatment. As psoriasis is a chronic, relapsing condition, the aim is control rather than cure. Consider scheduling periodic reviews with a dermatologist to optimize long-term management.
No need to worry.specific treatment is available.it depends on severity of the disease . Complete medical history is required..
