Progesterone post ovulation
I have a fixed leutal phase of 13 days post ovulation . Why doctor prescribes PROGESTERONE for a patient with 13 day leutal phase . Is it required and needed in the first place I am prescribed progesterone for 20 days post IUI it costs me @2700₹ ! What determines and tests and qualifies if the patient need it or not or is it generalised and randomised and prescribed to every patient irrespective of its need or not Who is a valid candidate to be prescribed progesterone and who needs it not

It’s usually given to support pregnancy. The rationale behind it is if patient has luteal phase defect where there is deficiency of progesterone, the outcome of IUI is not favourable. When you have spent good amount for the treatment ie IUI , it’s rather advisable to spend some more for good chances of having positive outcome. In medicine, all is not black and white, sometimes it’s grey too ! Wishing you good luck with the treatment.
