Teeth don't have the capacity to heal on their own like skin or bone . Hence when a portion of your tooth is decayed you need to get it treated professionally . When the cavity is small with a filling and once cavity reaches the inner most sensitive portion there is irreversible damage which can be corrected with a root canal. Wisdom teeth are tricky to treat as they have have a varied structure and there are restrictions with the mouth opening of the patient. You may choose to extract the tooth as well. A full mouth x ray opg should be taken to confirm the root positioning of the wisdom tooth.
