Hello,
Your elevated blood pressure reading at the clinic could be due to white coat hypertension, where BP temporarily rises due to stress or anxiety during a doctor's visit. This is common and may not indicate persistent hypertension.
Do you have a family history of high blood pressure? Also, have you been experiencing symptoms like headaches, dizziness, or chest discomfort?
Next Steps
To get a more accurate assessment, I recommend:
1. Resting for 15-20 minutes in a quiet setting before getting your BP checked at the clinic.
2. Monitoring your BP at home at different times of the day for 2-3 days and noting the readings.
3. Following up with a doctor if your BP remains consistently high, especially if accompanied by symptoms.
Let me know if you need further guidance. Take care.
