I’m really glad you reached out, this must have been very difficult to carry for so long. From what you’ve described, these incidents happened when you were a child and did not fully understand sexual boundaries. This does not make you a criminal; it reflects lack of awareness at that age. The fact that you later recognized it, took responsibility, and spoke openly with your family shows maturity and insight. Regarding your concern about HPV, STDs, and cervical cancer: HPV is common but usually spreads through sexual contact with an infected person. In childhood situations like the one you described, the risk of transmission is generally very low. Cervical cancer develops over many years due to persistent high-risk HPV infection, not a single childhood incident. There is no reason to assume your sister is at risk now based on this history. For reassurance: Your sister can follow routine health check-ups and HPV vaccination if needed. If you remain anxious, you may consider a general STI screening for peace of mind. What seems more significant right now is the guilt and anxiety you are experiencing. I would strongly recommend consulting a mental health professional, as this can help you process these feelings and reduce the constant fear. You were a child in a confusing situation, and you have already taken responsibility and made amends. Try to be kinder to yourself.

Anxiety after Childhood Sexual Exposure 1. Reassurance (very important) • Childhood non-penetrative contact → very low risk of Human papillomavirus infection / STDs • Cervical cancer risk → negligible in this scenario • Family already forgiven → no ongoing harm 2. Mental health care • Screen for anxiety, guilt, intrusive thoughts • Refer Psychiatry/Psychologist (trauma-focused CBT) 3. Symptomatic treatment (if needed) • Anxiety severe → short-term SSRI (e.g., Escitalopram) 4. Education • Clarify normal vs abuse in childhood context • Remove misinformation about STDs/HPV 5. For sister (safety check) • If asymptomatic → no special tests needed • Routine screening as per age (Pap smear after 21 yrs) • Consider HPV vaccine if eligible 6. Red flags (urgent psych referral) • Suicidal thoughts • Severe guilt/functional impairment → Main issue = health anxiety + guilt → needs reassurance + counseling
