Panic Attack
Yesterday morning, my sister felt helpless and unable to speak. She started crying thereafter and could not open her eyes. It took her a lot of time (around 15-20 minutes) to speak properly and stop crying. This happened while there was a family argument going on. Today morning, she went blank, was just staring at the wall, breathing heavily, had cold limbs, again not able to respond. Finally, she said that she was afraid if she would face something similar in school and nobody would come to her rescue. She found muscular movement very difficult during these two incidents. Please advice how serious this is and if she should consult a psychologist.

Hi... Please consult a Psychiatrist first if the situation is so acute. What you have explained looks like a panic attack (freeze response) but there might be some other conditions as well. Therapy takes time, so consulting a Psychologist for immediate effect is not ideal. Though ultimately Therapy will treat her from the root but it will take sometime, i.e., 6-8 months to 1-2 years depending upon the severity of concern. Medication brings effect immediately and she will also feel equipped to deal with her immediate environment. Therapy and Medication will go side-by-side in this case but considering the severity of her concern Medication may take primacy.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychiatrist and a Psychologist.

Hello dear I can understand what your sister might be going through. It might have been very difficult for her to cope up with such situations simultaneously in her life. She had emotional outburst and panick as a sign that she isn't able to cope up with this. Don't worry, you did a very good thing to think about taking her to consult a good therapist or a psychologist. You should do it as soon as possible. You can also let her contact me and I will help her in her recovery. She can discuss her problem with me so that she can reach towards her solution. Take care. Stay safe and strong. Everything will be alright. She got this!!
