As aging proceeds Vata aggravates, hence during old age, excessive exercise further increases Vata, Hence either do walking or yoga regularly that to half of your strength, avoid swimming, exposure to cold climate or conditions, keep yourself warm, have warm limited food, add ghee in your diet, which decreases Vata

Aggravation of vata takes place due to diet and activities that we are doing also. Even activities like swimming also aggarvates the condition of vat. I suggest you to take Abhyanga (Massage therapy) after doing any type of exercise so that it helps u to balance ur vat. I suggest u to go the nearest clinic and have light panchakarma therapies to prevent u from aggravated vat so that it prevents u from degeneration.

Persistent pain in arms and behind knees with swelling suggests Vata imbalance, possibly Sandhigata Vata. Regular oil massage (Abhyanga), steam (Swedana), and medicines like Yograj Guggulu and Dashamoola Kwatha may help. Avoid cold, dry foods. Since symptoms persist, kindly consult an Ayurvedic doctor for personalised treatment.

Thank you for the detailed background. At 70, joint and muscle pain with Vata imbalance is quite common, especially when it persists despite physical activity and medication. Your symptoms — **upper arm pain**, **pain and swelling behind the knee**, **Vata-related issues**, and **minimal relief despite therapy** — suggest deeper aggravation of **Vata dosha**, possibly affecting **Asthi (bones), Majja (nerves), and Snayu (ligaments/tendons)**. --- ## 🔍 **Likely Causes (Based on Ayurveda):** * **Vata aggravation** due to age (natural in old age), dry/light/cold foods, irregular meals, stress, or overexertion. * **Snayugata Vata** (Vata in tendons/ligaments) or **Sandhigata Vata** (in joints). * Pain behind the knee with swelling may suggest a **Baker’s cyst**, **ligament degeneration**, or early arthritis. * **Ama (toxins)** accumulation might be preventing absorption of medicines and therapy. --- ## ✅ **Ayurvedic Treatment Plan:** ### 1. 🧴 **External Oils (Abhyanga):** Use **Vata-pacifying oils** daily on painful areas: * *****Tailam** or *****Tail** – warm slightly and apply with gentle massage. * Post-application, apply **hot water bag** or **steam** to help oil penetrate deeper. ### 2. 🧪 **Internal Medications** *(under guidance of Ayurvedic doctor)*: You can consider: * *****Guggulu** – 2 tablets twice daily after food * *****Guggulu** – if nerve or back pain is significant * *****Kashayam / ****Kwath** – decoction that pacifies Vata in joints > These medicines reduce pain, stiffness, and improve circulation. ### 3. 🍵 **Vata-Reducing Diet:** * Eat **warm, soft, well-cooked meals** with ghee * Avoid: cold foods, dry snacks, excess legumes, cabbage, potato, curd at night * Include: warm milk with a pinch of turmeric + ghee at night * Use **hing, cumin, ginger**, and **ajwain** in food to reduce Vata ### 4. 💧 **Vata-Pacifying Decoction (Home Remedy):** Take this daily on empty stomach: > **½ tsp ***+ ½ tsp dry ****powder** boiled in 2 cups water → reduce to 1 cup → strain and drink warm. This reduces joint inflammation, pain, and supports better digestion of Vata. ### 5. 🧘 **Modify Activity:** * While your physical activity is great, **avoid overexertion**. Swimming + yoga + walking may be too much at 70. * Focus on **gentle yoga**, **restorative poses**, and **stretching** rather than intensive sessions. * Rest is essential for Vata disorders to heal. --- ## 🔁 **Optional Therapies (If Accessible):** If you're open to Panchakarma: * **Abhyanga + Swedana** (oil massage + steam therapy) for 7–14 days * **Basti Karma (Vata-reducing medicated enema)** – gold standard for Vata disorders These provide deep nourishment to Vata and clear Ama from the system. --- ## 🛌 Night Routine (For Reducing Vata & Better Sleep): * Warm milk + ghee + pinch of nutmeg/turmeric * Light head massage with *****oil** or ******oil** * Avoid late night screen exposure, cold air, or sleeping late --- ## ⚠️ When to See a Doctor: * The **knee swelling** needs to be evaluated to rule out **Baker’s cyst**, **effusion**, or arthritis * A musculoskeletal ultrasound or MRI can help clarify the cause if needed Would you like a **printable daily chart** for your routine? Or help locating these medicines online/offline? Also, let me know if you take any allopathic medicines like blood thinners or diabetes/bp pills — some combinations may need monitoring. Advice- self medication is hazardous, always consult ayurvedic doctor before taking ayurvedic medicine. Consult me personally for details.

Sir you are over training looking at your workout schedule. At any age if you dont give enough rest phase to your body, your body enters degeneration mode which effects not only bones and muscles but also organs. Degeneration is the classical symptom of vata. This is the main reason behind so many celebrity deaths who over train in an attempt to look in a particular way without understanding the harmful effects it can have. So first make your workout shedule in such a way that atleast you have 3 days rest during a week. The only form of exercise that needs to be performed daily without any need of breaks is pranayam or breathing exercises that cool the body. Secondly, even though it may be a challenge to switch ones diet at your age, try to include HAIP DIET as much as possible which is based on the anti inflammatory principles of ayurveda. In medications i will only suggest Rasnadi ghritam 1 teaspoon morning empty stomach Stop pain killers and switch to sallaki for managing pain Apply mahanarayan tailam mixed with murivenna tailam and rasnadi ghritam in 2:2:1 ratio on the afflicted areas 1 hour before bath And take k2 mk7 supplement along with vitamin d. You may need to take consultation for the proper dosing of these supplements though. So just start with the above recommendations first and if required we can add the supplementation after consultation. I feel you will do well without them though if you follow above recommendations.
Next Steps
follow above recommendations
