Weekly 60,000 IU vitamin D for a defined course does not cause right-sided abdominal pain, so I would not blame the tablet here. At 18 this pain is most often gastritis or acid reflux, gas and constipation, or muscular strain; less often gallbladder or appendix, and those come with fever, vomiting or pain that steadily worsens and localises. Pain that shifts, comes after meals or eases after passing stool is almost always functional. What I do want ruled out is a raised calcium level if you continued high-dose vitamin D on your own beyond the prescribed course.
Next Steps
Stop any self-started vitamin D, eat on time, avoid spicy and fried food and late-night meals for two weeks. Get a CBC, serum calcium, vitamin D level and an ultrasound of the abdomen. If the pain becomes severe, constant, shifts to the right lower abdomen or comes with fever or vomiting, see a doctor the same day. Bring the reports to a Practo consult with me and we will close this out.
Finding multiple hypoechoic calcified granulomas in the liver on an ultrasound scan means your immune system walled off past irritants, leaving small, healed scars with calcium. These are often benign and incidental, but they require correlation with your medical history and blood tests to rule out active underlying conditions.....
.
It's wise to get a CT done to look details of granulomas and acoustic shadow nearby...... Follow as your dr had advised.
