Hi, thank you for sharing this. I’m really sorry you’ve been carrying so much for so long.
From what you’ve described, it sounds like your mind has been under continuous stress and grief for several years. When painful events happen one after another without enough time to heal, the brain can get stuck in a “survival mode.” That’s why negative thoughts, overthinking, poor sleep, low energy, loneliness, and even forgetfulness can become common. It doesn’t mean you’ve lost your old self it means that version of you is buried under a lot of emotional pain.
In therapy, we would take it one step at a time. First, we’ll help your mind and body feel calmer and improve your sleep. Then we’ll understand how the traumatic experiences have affected you, gently process those painful memories, and work on changing the negative thought patterns that keep pulling you down. Alongside this, we’ll rebuild your confidence, help you reconnect with activities that bring meaning and joy, and gradually help you feel like yourself again. Healing doesn’t erase the past, but it helps you stop living under its weight.
You don’t have to go through this alone. Recovery is possible with the right support.

This isn’t just overthinking — it’s what happens when the mind goes through loss after loss with no time to recover. A few examples: broken sleep affects memory directly, which is likely why you’re forgetting things. The nervous system starts reacting to normal days as if they’re threats — that’s the “being pushed down for no reason” feeling. And processing pain alone, without support, keeps the mind looping harder than it would with even one person to share it with.
Missing your old self isn’t about losing who you are — it’s what happens when there’s been no room to breathe for years.
This is very treatable. I’d suggest booking a session so we can look at what’s been happening and build a plan from there.
Therapy session are required weekly once to vent out your thoughts, feelings and emotions, it will treat layer by layer helping to look deep within. As it’s been it may initially be challenging but it is totally workable. A holistic approach is recommended, Behaviour Therapy + Cognitive Behaviour Therapy + Psychiatric consultation. Explore new hobbies where you can find like minded people. It’s possible to connect with your older self and be radiant and content for which you have to start Gratitude Journal. All the best to you.
Hi.. What you're experiencing is partly a consequence of the traumatic events you witnessed in past 3-4 years along with some aspects of growing up into a mature person, which is always different from being an innocent child/adolescent, who has limited life experiences. To some extent you need to get over your traumatic past, but at the same time you need to embrace the learnings and change it brought in your mind. There is a fine difference between being pessimistic and being mature. We all realize the hardships and complexities of life sometime and it becomes difficult to leave that old version of ourselves that we so dearly loved once. You need to address the conflicts that aroused out of the trauma but you also need to accept the changes that your mind took while experiencing these events. Growth is never a smooth process, it often accompanies a series of self doubts, emotional turmoil, and setbacks. What you are experiencing right now needs to be carefully examined and addressed in a therapeutic setting.
