Orthodontics treatment
Hello doctor, I have been taking orthodontics (brackets) treatment from xyz dental college from the past 3.5 years. The treatment is delayed because of less appointments given by the dental college but my treatment is almost completed it is at the final stage. Is treatment can be continued by other dental clinics if no documents are provided by the previous dentist?

Hello madam. Most Orthodontic patients lose patience near the end. Try to avoid making this mistake. Treatment is not over unless the orthodontist says so as it cause cause more relapse. It would be better to complete the treatment where it was started. As your orthodontist know the details and in and out  of your dental health and progress. Ofcourse you can get the treatment continued at a private Orthodontic clinic in the city after discussing with your centre of treatment at the Dental college. But again I suggest that as treatment is almost coming to end. Avoid changing Orthodontist now. Hope this was helpful.

Orthodontic treatment is complex treatment there are sometimes chances of relapse. If you are satisfied with your treatment then you can go to any other clinic for retainers etc . You are lucky that treatment according to you is complete because in dental colleges mostly treatment is done for benefit of students who are learning new techniques and experimenting on patients..most of times patients get frustrated and move to pvt dental clinics for competion of treatment

I would suggest you to keep a record of your treatment planning as it helps the other dentist to know the complete planning and consequently helps her/him to decide the further treatment protocol.

Hi 3.5years is indeed a long duration because of the less availability of appointments. Treatment can be continued at a different clinic but every doctor has their own way of going about things so unless and until you know the dentist really well it would be a challenge. Also orthodontic treatment is more of how you started and how things have progressed which may vary from dentist to dentist. If it's the end of your treatment and you think you can finish it off in the college please go ahead. Else you can consult a dentist in a private clinic.

Hi. It's a Big yess! Challenging part, they  might start from zero,as every orthodontist has different techniques and approach towards their treatment protocol. I certainly understand your concern  ,it would be wise enough to continue with the same Doctor as u have to undergo the same process for a lil longer duration if you switch your Doctor. You can take a call. Hope it has been helpful.
