Obesity and weight loss
I have been overweight since childhood. When I was 20 years old, I had gone to an obesity clinic where the doctor gave me medicines which did not allow the fat to be absorbed in the body at all. The medicine was named Orlistat. I did work out and maintain a healthy lifestyle as well, but I lost 21 kgs in about 3 months. I also started losing a lot of hair, my haemoglobin went down to 8, I had calcium deficiency which I'm still battling with even today and what not. I was only allowed to eat a proper lunch, other than that it was just milk, lemon water, buttermilk and fruits. At the I was under pressure from my family to lose weight and I did everything to make them happy and then eventually I ended up gaining all the weight back plus 5 more kgs with all the deficiencies. I wasn't aware of many things at that time. I am now. I am obese, I accept it and I am seriously seeking proper and informed help today. Please help me.

Hello, I can understand and feel for all that you have gone through. Let me tell you weight loss is a process and it has to done the "right" way to ensure it is sustainable, long lasting and there are no nutritional deficiencies. By eating right & regular physical exercise you can lose weight, but it takes little time and requires regular modifications and monitoring. Losing weight does not mean you need to eat less. Lifestyle modification and correct guidance will be of help for you. A personalized diet session is strongly recommended for you as it will take into account your lifestyle, routine, eating habits, height, weight, medical condition if any, stress, sleep etc. Your details will help us in understanding the gap areas and guiding you accordingly. As a start you can make the following changes - 1. Eat balanced meals & never skip meals 2. Ensure 2 fruits intake preferably mid-meals 3. Whole grains, fruits, vegetables are rich in fiber along with vitamins & minerals they help you stay full for long 4. Incorporate protein rich foods like low fat milk & milk products, dals, sprouts, pulses, eggs, lean chicken, fish in every meal 5. Exercise 5-6 days of the week atleast 30-45 minutes 6. Drink 10-12 glasses of water to stay hydrated
