As per your history of clicking sound and pain near ear area; your Temporomandibular joint may be affected. I believe clicking sound may be there since long time. First and foremost: It takes time to resolve joint issues. Keep patience. Patient usually changes dr if he doesn't get relief in few days.
Next Steps
Immediately: 1) Soft diet only. 2) Avoid wide opening of mouth. 3) You may require physiotherapy and occlusal splints.
Health Tips
AVOID muscle relaxant medicine! visit a dentist nearby. (preferably oral and maxillofacial surgeon.)

Get yourself examined.. this may be an 3rd molar / wisdom tooth causing the pain.Warm saline rinses and over the counter pain killer like combiflam will ease the pain.
