Consult Urologist for improving control of urine and motion. They will prescribe medicines if required. They may also suggest few tests such as ultrasonography of bladder, urodynamic study. Urologist will judge whether intermittent catheterisation will work for you. Usually clamping of indwelling catheter is done at regular interval for few days, gradually your bladder will be made accustomed to voiding at specific time intervals, then intermittent catheterisation will be started. For sexual dysfunction, you need to consult Andrologist with experience in treating spinal cord injury. There are different medicines and treatment procedures to help. If you have any further queries, let me know. I work in a specialised rehabilitation centre for spinal cord injury, where a full medical team handles rehabilitation.
Next Steps
Consult Urologist and Andrologist.
Health Tips
Depending on severity of spinal cord injury, you may or may not have sensation and muscle activation in your pelvic floor muscles. In case you have sensation and slight control, then consult Physiotherapist to learn how to do pelvic floor muscle strengthening exercises.
