I went to my dentist for my tooth pain. Lower second tooth molar.
Dentist said I need to get deep cleaning done. It has more tartar buildup. He also said I have to get wisdom tooth extraction done for my left upper.
I was sick since last week. Sinus and ear infection. Taking amoxicillin/clav antibiotics since last Friday.
I went to dentist yesterday and he said to do deep cleaning ( he said it's gum cleaning) on Thursday and extraction on Friday.
He said he will give antibiotics for extraction. I am already taking antibiotics which was given for ear infection and that course until Thursday. And can I take more antibiotics from this Friday for the extraction?
I have to take another week of antibiotics for tooth extraction. Is it ok to take continuous antibiotics? Or should I postpone the extraction visit?
Also, can we do deep cleaning and next day extraction? Is it ok to do on next day ? Or should I wait?
I am concerned about antibiotics dosages. Should I postpone the extraction?

Regarding the antibiotics, it's generally best to follow the instructions provided by your dentist or healthcare provider. They are familiar with your medical history and can determine if additional antibiotics are necessary for your tooth extraction. If your dentist has recommended another course of antibiotics specifically for the extraction, it may be because they want to ensure that any potential infection is properly managed. However, it's essential to discuss your concerns with your dentist, especially if you're already taking antibiotics for another condition.
As for the timing of the deep cleaning and extraction, it's common to have these procedures done on separate visits. However, in some cases, they can be performed consecutively. Your dentist is the best person to determine the appropriate timing based on your oral health condition and overall well-being.
If you're concerned about the dosages and the timing of the procedures, it's advisable to discuss these concerns with your dentist. They can provide you with detailed information about the rationale behind the treatment plan and address any questions or reservations you may have. By having an open conversation with your dentist, you can make an informed decision about whether to proceed with the extraction as planned or consider alternative options.

Hi . Long term antibiotics do not have any major side effects as such, they just alter the normal flora of your stomach, so u might have stomach upset, nausea and vommiting. But if it's not urgent then it's definitely better to wait for sometime. And yes you can get the extraction done on the next day of gum deep cleaning.
