Your situation is medically valid — a slipped disc with night shift work is a genuinely harmful combination, as lack of proper rest and poor sleep posture at night significantly worsen disc pain and healing. Sleep deprivation also causes hormonal imbalance and worsens physical recovery, especially after a C-section just a year ago. A medical certificate recommending a day shift for health reasons can be issued by a doctor after a proper consultation and review of your medical records.
Next Steps
Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation — I can assess your condition and, if medically appropriate, provide the necessary documentation for a shift change recommendation.

Answer: Your concerns are valid. Working permanent night shifts can significantly affect sleep quality, recovery from musculoskeletal problems, and overall health. In a patient with a diagnosed slipped disc, inadequate sleep and lack of proper rest may aggravate pain, muscle spasm, fatigue, and delay recovery. However, an online platform cannot usually issue a formal workplace fitness certificate or recommend a shift change without a physical evaluation and review of your medical records. For this, you should consult a local physician (MD Medicine), occupational health specialist, or orthopedic/spine specialist. What I would recommend: ✔ Get evaluated by an Orthopedic Surgeon or Spine Specialist and carry your MRI reports. ✔ If your symptoms are significant (persistent back pain, radiating leg pain, numbness, weakness, difficulty sitting/standing for long hours), the treating doctor can issue a medical fitness certificate recommending: Day shifts instead of night shifts Restricted lifting/bending Ergonomic workplace modifications Temporary work adjustments ✔ Maintain a regular sleep schedule, even on off days. ✔ Continue physiotherapy, core-strengthening exercises, and posture correction as advised. ✔ Avoid self-medicating with sleeping pills, as they may not address the underlying issue and can cause dependence. Seek urgent medical attention if you develop: Progressive leg weakness Loss of bladder or bowel control Numbness in the groin/saddle area Severe worsening back pain Based on the information provided, a medical assessment for workplace modification and shift adjustment appears reasonable, but the formal recommendation should come from a physician who examines you and reviews your spine condition and sleep disturbance in person.
