Milk teeth serve two roles. 1 they help in chewing. 2 they keep space for the permanent teeth. If we extract too early child will not be able to chew properly also the permanent teeth eruption can get delayed as well as teeth may not erupt in the correct place which will require braces in the future.
Next Steps
One should try to save the tooth if possible.
Health Tips
Extraction is the last resort.

1. Please get a digital x-ray and a digital OPG done to see the growth of the permanent teeth below the milk teeth.
2.Do bear in mind that milk teeth if saved act as space maintainer and also if there is abscess or pus below the milk/deciduous tooth that can affect the health of the permanent tooth below it not withstanding the pus which is causing pain to the child .
Hence saving the milk tooth is important as much as possible . Only after examing the DIGITAL X-RAY AND OPG can the condition be carefully assessed and the correct decision can be arrived . I hope it helps. Warm regards Dr Rohit Misra Ex Army Dental Surgeon Vikram Vihar Lajpat Nagar 4 New Delhi
