Salivary flow decreases during sleep causing drying of the oral cavity. Moreover this problem could be exaggerated in mouth breathers and people suffering from GERD. Suggest you consult a dentist before consulting a general physician.

Hi Bad breath can occur from various reasons. Deposition of food in between teeth, uncleaned tongue and lack of oral hygiene are a few causes. Gastric problem also gives rise to the same. Please do brush your teeth especially before going to bed. After 10 mins of brushing you can use some common mouthwash or a glass of warm salt water to rinse your mouth. Do not eat or drink anything after that so that it remain applied for a while. Try it for a few days, if problem persists, then kindly consult your nearby dentist for the exact problem. If he/she diagnosed it to be of gastric cause then might refer you to a physician. Take care.
