Unresolved Hurt from the past issues and post menopausal hormonal changes , thyroid issues might be few of the contributers  for such behavior. Diagnosis can be done only after seeing the patient.
Next Steps
kindly consult any psychiatrist near you. Depending upon her present psychological & physical situation , counselling and medications can be considered. Your Dr is the best person to take the call.
Health Tips
Be supportive of her emotion and pain. Not behavior. (It must be painful for you to go through all this, let me know what we can do. If you feel okay, we can consult a Doctor... ) Try not to be judgemental about her behavior. Avoid giving advice / solutions , it ll cause more pain. Most importantly , your psychological health is equally important. Take care of your self. all the best !

There are few things which needs to be clarified before reaching a provisional diagnosis of her condition. 1) How is her thyroid and diabetes status over treatment? 2) Since how long is she having these anger issues and crying spells? 3) How is her sleep and appetite? There are two possibilities which are poles apart in view of treatment or line of management, either she is going through a depressive episode (?organic) or all these symptoms are manifestations of her personality traits. So things can only get clear with detailed exploration!
Next Steps
consult a psychiatrist in-person or via teleconsultation
