Minor slip disc
Im having minor herniated disc at l5 s1 which was caused by gyming.its been now 2.5 years now since then my condition is not stable sometimes its very well but sometimes it becomes worse.i also developed sciatica but now the pain is only revolving around lower back. Currently im not taking any medications because of taking them for too long. I was taking gabamax75(pregabalin 75 mecobalamin 1500) and it helped me in relieving pain. Now i want to ask can i take it for longer time? Like whenever i feel pain or on regular basis ? Do it has side effects if taken for longer time? For how many days is it safer to take it? And can i hit gym again for keeping myself fit as doctors always recommend walking n swimming.

Patients do take Gabapantine for long periods but you are still young. See if you can manage with local application of voveran or Volini or  Moov. Take Gabapantine only if pain relief is not there. As far as gyming goes - lifting heavy weights is out of the question.  You can do light weights and more repititions. Remember anything that increases the pressure on your back can worsen your PIVD with serious long term consequences. Best to avoid the gym. That is why you have been advised swiming and walking  (not running) as these put minimal pressure on your spine.
