L4,L5-S1 Disc BuldgeIssue
I have a known L5-S1 disc bulge, and recently I’ve been experiencing hand pain, particularly in the morning after waking up. The pain feels pinching and shifts between wrist and fingers, resembling a nerve-related discomfort. However, NCV tests of all four limbs came back normal, and Vitamin B12 levels are also normal. I wanted to ask: 1. Could this hand pain be connected to the L5-S1 disc bulge, or is it likely a separate issue? 2. How long does such nerve-related recovery typically take, assuming it’s posture-related or due to inflammation?

with the age of 26 years, i can assume you are having too much sitting work if you have developed a backache and disc bulge issue. along with this, if you have hand pain also then few possibilities arise which are not at all related to lumbar disc bulge. computer work with prolong surfing and typing causes nerve compression at wrist level causing tingling numbness and sometimes weakness over hands - called Carpel tunnel syndrome. such pain will remain if you assume some perticular hand posture of flexed wrist such as in typing writing and surfing.
Next Steps
NERVE conduction studies to diagnose it.
Health Tips
hand splint for CTS back straight while sitting and if you can use a brace for some time. consult a neurologist who specialises in pain ( "I do" !) - if no improvement with medication then we can go for nerve blocks - a very minor procedure with just monthssss of relief.

The hand pain is not related to L5-S1 disc bulge. Nerve recovery take months like 6 months to 2 years…based on the pathology
