Masturbation
I had a sleeping problem, so I started masturbating to fall asleep. But now, even though I'm taking sleep pills, I'm still masturbating subconsciously in my sleep. How many hypnotherapy sessions do I need approximately?

Hi, Masturbation is natural, healthy , however in excess , it does affect lifestyle which you seem to be aware of . Stopping or reducing the no. of times requires commitment. Consult a Psychologist or a Hypnotherapist. You will get help in identifying certain triggers that are causing this . You will benefit by being able to resist the compulsions learn different techniques like behavioural modifications, trigger-response conditioning - this space is where you can regain control . Your hypnotherapy sessions will depend on you taking into consideration your triggers, your past experiences and your lifestyle The number of sessions you require is completely up to you, so speak and discuss how many are needed for you .

Hi... You primary concern is sleep issues which needs to be addressed with Psychotherapy/Counselling first. Medications are rarely used in such cases. They are not even sleeping pill. They are basically antianxiety medications meant to be used for severe anxiety/panic/etc. One of their function is to bring sleep. They are not meant to be used as sleeping pills on regular basis. I also do not suggest using any sleeping pills available in the market as they only interfere with the circadian rhythm. Regulating your routine in terms of proper and timely meals, exercise, breathing/meditation and using talking therapies are much better methods. Hypnotherapy may also help but it is hard to find a good professional and it's impact may or may not be long lasting. It depends upon the root cause of your sleep problems and the competence of the hypnotherapist. If the cause is more psychosocial or lifestyle related than the issues will keep reoccurring after sometime. Using masturbation as means to relax and going to sleep is not very uncommon. It has got paired with your sleep cycle so your mind is making you do it even in sleep. It is more a habit which will wither away once the root cause is addressed. It does not needs to be treated separately. Treatment works on identifying the root of the problem. If we keep working on the symptoms, it will start a loop of problems caused by temporary solutions and vice versa.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychologist. CBT along with Lifestyle Changes and Interpersonal Guidance and Counselling is required.
