Lower left back pain
The pain arises in the lower left side of the back & transmits to the upper & lower body in the left side. left foot gets swollen during severe pain & sometimes eyes also get swollen. it pains in the back while sitting down after standing for long. the doctor whose prescription image is uploaded here says that a specific injection can give relief for a couple of years. is that correct? what injection is that exactly? does this requires operation? been battling with the pain for years now but has been more severe in the last 2-3 years.

There are now injections which can relieve pain for 1 to 2yrs like epidural steroids,transforamenal block,etc..usually done by anaesthetist. However neurosurgeon is best person to decide whether you require it or not.

I can understand your agony. MRI reveals disc bulges and osteophytes but you have got low back pain and intermittent eye swelling.Its difficult to comment what injection your doctor is going to prescribe. However I am presuming that other causes of back pain like spondyloarthropathy, inflammatory joint disease , metabolic bone disease etc have been looked  into and investigated. Please consult physician,orthopaedician, physiotherapist for better management.  Please don't get disheartened.
